Whiplash
|
Whiplash is the most common injury suffered in accidents. When vehicles collide, the people in them are thrown forward and backward (or from side to side), often with significant force. In many cases, the force is enough to strain or sprain muscles and ligaments in the neck and back. People who suffer a whiplash typically feel significant pain, often have associated headaches, and occasionally have pain, numbness, or tingling radiating into their arms or legs. While some people recover fully from whiplash injuries, many other do not. They are left with scar tissue or other permanent injuries resulting in permanent pain and limitations.
Whether a whiplash resolves quickly, or becomes a life long problem, people who suffer a whiplash injury in an accident may be entitled to compensation, including:
- Past and future medical bills for treatment of your injuries.
- Out of pocket expenses related to the injury including prescriptions, co-pays, deductibles, over-the-counter medications like Advil® or Tylenol®, braces, hot or cold packs, etc.
- Your mileage to and from your health care appointments.
- Your lost wages (both past lost wages and wages you will lose in the future because of disabilities or the need to seek medical care).
- Compensation for your past and future pain and suffering, disability, and/or disfigurement.
